Steven Kuysten

Steven Kuysten is in his 10th year working amongst his steel industry peers. He started his career in 2016 with Russel Metals(tsx:RUS.TO) in the purchasing department where he learned the cyclical buying patterns of this complex commodity product. In this role, he was able to grasp both domestic and international exposure to the various steel mills that shape our industry in North America. Following his procurement experiences, Steven joined the sales side of the sector while consistently sharing his buying expertise with his downstream customers. In 2021, Steven was approached by one of his fabrication customers based out of New Brunswick to support their new business efforts in Ontario. This allowed Steven to utilize his material experience while growing the business in a new market and ecosystem for his maritime employer. Steven recently joined Ontario based Benson Steel Ltd. in 2025 as Pre-Construction Manager and Senior Sales. This role has allowed Steven to broaden his leadership skills and pass on his experiences to a diverse team with Ontario roots. Steven is the second generation in his household to work in the steel industry, combining over 50 years of experience. Steven also holds a B.Comm Degree from the University of Guelph and most recently completed a MBA in 2024 from Queen’s University.
