David Scherer formed Origin in 2007, along with co-founder Michael Episcope, to source investment opportunities in commercial real estate, originally as a family office and later as a platform to outside investors. He has more than 20 years of experience in real estate investing, finance, development, and asset management.
David co-chairs the investment committee and is responsible for the investment analysis, acquisitions and asset management teams at Origin.
Previously, David spent eight years at a privately financed hedge fund specializing in stock derivative arbitrage, where he opened and managed offices in New York and London. He served as company president from 1999 through 2003 and grew the company from 15 to 50 employees. David graduated with honors from Harvard University and received his master of business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
