Since 2008, Max has worked in commercial real estate capital markets – arranging debt and equity for middle market commercial real estate developers and investors, successfully funding over $1 billion throughout his career. His practice has focused on ground-up construction and value-add projects (construction and bridge loans). In many cases, he has worked with sponsors to establish their first institutional debt or equity relationship on a larger project.
When Max founded Mandri Capital in 2018, he had a vision of utilizing his network to secure the most favorable debt, mezzanine financing, and JV-Equity for emerging and established developer and investor clients. Oftentimes, he discreetly explores financing options in sensitive and off-market deal situations.
Prior to founding Mandri Capital, Max worked at several boutique commercial real estate investment banking firms in Los Angeles – structuring and arranging senior debt, mezzanine debt, preferred equity, and joint-venture transactions for middle market operators and investors. He also has experience working as a commercial loan officer in a private bank, managing a portfolio of commercial loans.
Max has led teams and was responsible for marketing and processing complex real estate financial arrangements, including all underwriting / structuring, deal packaging, capital placement and closing, in a fast-paced environment. Deals typically ranged from $10M to $50M, involving multiple sources of capital.
Before entering the real estate market Max worked as an analyst at Goldman Sachs in the Equity Derivatives group in New York.
Max completed his (bilingual) MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He has a master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in New York and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in Boston.
He resides in Santa Monica, California with his wife Patricia and their children.
