Daniel Nagel serves as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Decron Properties Corp. In this capacity, Daniel provides leadership across the firm’s investment platform and is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and closing all real estate transactions—including acquisitions, dispositions, and financings—as well as overseeing the firm’s accounting department and capital markets activities.
Decron Properties is a multigenerational, family-owned real estate investment and operating company celebrating over 70 years of continuous ownership and stewardship. Founded by Holocaust survivor Jack Nagel, the firm has grown into a vertically integrated platform and today owns and operates approximately 50 apartment communities across the United States. Over seven decades, Decron has navigated many pivots in strategy and market focus; most notably, in the years following the Great Recession, the firm repositioned its portfolio from approximately 60% allocated to retail and office to roughly 90% multifamily and 10% retail and office. Led by three generations—Dr. Gitta Nagel (Gen 1), David Nagel (Gen 2), and Daniel Nagel (Gen 3)—Decron is defined by a people-first culture, treating residents, employees, partners, and lenders with integrity and long-term alignment, and extends its legacy through deep philanthropic commitment and community impact.
Since joining Decron in 2009—when the company operated solely in Southern California—Daniel has been part of the team driving the firm’s geographic expansion and institutional growth, working collaboratively to shape and execute strategy. Through the first quarter of 2026, Daniel has helped oversee more than $7 billion in transaction activity across acquisitions, dispositions, and financings. He is also an expert in structuring 1031 exchanges, having completed over 30 exchanges deferring tax on more than $1.3 billion in sale proceeds.
Daniel received a Master in Business Administration from UCLA Anderson School of Management with a concentration in Real Estate and Finance. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yeshiva University in New York City with a BA in Economics.
Daniel lives in Los Angeles with his wife and five children. He serves as an Executive Board Member at his children’s school, is a member of ULI, NMHC, and the Jewish Federation LA Real Estate and Construction Division, and is President of the West Coast Kollel, an institute supporting adult education and cultivating the next generation of communal and spiritual leaders.
